Shueh Chien graduated from the NUS Faculty of Law in 2021 with a 2nd Upper and was called to the Bar in August 2022.
He completed his training under Abraham Vergis SC at Providence Law Asia LLC, and is currently an associate with Foo & Quek LLC (in association with NLC Law Asia LLC). During his career, he has been exposed to a wide range of contentious matters in both litigation and arbitration. Amongst others, he has experience in criminal matters, commercial disputes, insolvency, construction arbitration, defamation, legal professional conduct and civil procedure. He has also assisted in a trial at the High Court for 15 million dollars, which was resolved successfully in favour of his clients during his traineeship.
He was an avid mooter in university, and was a quarter-finalist in the Foreign Direct Investment Arbitration Moot in 2020, as well as first-runner up in the IBA-ICC International Criminal Moot Court Competition in June 2021. Additionally, he was also first-runner up in the V NLS Negotiation Mediation and Client Counseling Competition in 2019 in the Mediation (Negotiation Segment). He was also the last recipient of the Michael Hor Prize for being the top student in Freedom of Speech: Critical and Comparative Perspectives in 2020.
